Grandpa's Child
When I was but a child
I sat on my Grandpa's knee.
I looked into his knowing eyes
And said, "Explain to me?"
Tell me why the grass is green,
And where do babies grow?
Why do the fish just bite your hook?
And how come you know how to sew?
How did you make those stars to shine,
And grow that silver in you hair?
Where you born with all those wrinkles?
Can you make a coin appear?
He looked at me and lovingly smiled, and
Patiently answered my pleas.
He said God did all these things my child, but
He isn't quite through with me.
He gave me this beautiful grandchild
To see with brand new eyes,
That life is full of blessings,
Wonder and surprise!
